How California Raisins
are getting involved

The California Raisins team believe that diet and exercise goes hand in hand. We particularily understand that kids not only need to have a balanced diet but also regular exercise.

With this in mind we have been working with a number of sporting bodies and have launched the English Schools Football Association (ESFA) California Raisin Award Scheme and the Tennis For Fun Awards with national charity Tennis For Free. The great thing about both of these schemes is that they encourage people of all abilities to take part and most importantly to have fun!

Kids from all over the country have been involved and the feedback has been really positive, with thousands of kids coming back time and time again.

Have a look at the links to see how you can get involved!

"Leading a healthy lifestyle is vitally important, whatever your age. If you play sport, from a kick around the park to participating in major competitions, then make sure you're healthy enough to enjoy it. That doesn't only mean regular exercise it means eating a well balanced diet as well"

Sir Trevor Brooking
Ex England & West Ham Player

California Raisins/ESFA
Award Scheme

Sport and exercise are vital in maintaining a healthy lifestyle at any age and football is one of the most played sports in the UK and is a great way of keeping fit.

California Raisins recognised this and began to work with the English Schools Football Association (ESFA) to support their award scheme.

The ESFA are involved with all schools around the country, that's 10,000,000 children, and California Raisins were keen to encourage all school children to participate in schools football.

The California Raisins/ESFA award scheme allows players of all abilities to participate and be recognised through an official award scheme.

Nearly 10,000 badges have been awarded in under 2 years and the scheme is growing by the day with more and more schools coming on board regularly.

If you want to help youngsters enjoy the game and you know a school, or a local youth football club, that would like to get involved then contact the ESFA at 4 Parker Street, Staffordshire Technology Park, Beaconside, Stafford, ST18 OWP.
Tel: 01785 785970 or log on to www.esfa.co.uk to find out about the starter packs available.

Anyone for tennis?

TENNIS FOR FREE
Founded by writer, comedian and broadcaster Tony Hawks and fashion executive, Patrick Hollwey, the national charity Tennis For Free aims to make all public tennis courts in the UK available - FREE OF CHARGE. Tennis For Free have been establishing partnerships with councils across the UK, offering them funding and support to open up park tennis courts to their communities. Tennis For Free in turn provide coaching sessions free of charge to those of any ability and any age.

California Raisins teamed up with this charity and have supported them since the start. During 2006, California Raisins created a brand new awards programme 'TENNIS FOR FUN' aimed at encouraging people of all ages and abilities to try tennis and importantly, keep playing.

For each week that players attend Tennis For Free coaching sessions, they receive a sticker, the more stickers they get the more prizes they can collect. Among the prizes are t-shirts, sports water bottles and free tennis lessons. In addition, all that attend are given free California Raisins to help keep their energy levels up throughout the sessions.

These awards are aimed at encouraging people to keep coming back and really give tennis a go.

To start playing tennis today, simply click on the Tennis For Free website www.tennisforfree.com to find a free tennis court near you.
